Project WISE Summer Programs Project WISE Summer Programs are an opportunity for children to continue learning the importance (and fun) of reading and writing! These free programs, held at Austin area libraries, are part of a program funded by the Writers' League of Texas and the City of Austin in collaboration with the Austin Public Library. Watch for announcements of these summer programs. This project is funded and supported in part by the City of Austin through the Cultural Arts Division and by a grant from the Texas Commission on the Arts and an award from the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes that a great nation deserves great art. There are only a few slots still available for the 2012 Season of Project WISE author visits to schools. Authors and teachers/librarians interested in participating should email their contact information to jennifer@writersleague.org. Read about the Writers' League's participation in Second Chance Books, an award-winning collaboration between the Austin Public Library and the Gardner Betts Juvenile Detention Center.
