"The WLT Agents & Editors Conference was an invaluable experience for me. I found my agent, and I launched my publishing career. Huge."
- Jacqueline Kelly, author The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate,
2010 Newbery Honor book

"I’ve been to other conferences that were long on warm fuzzies and short on particulars. WLT was strong on both optimism and real life practical advice." - Tracy Schorn, 2014 Attendee

Our 2016 event is in the final planning stages and we expect to have our full schedule available here no later than June 3rd.

In the meantime, in addition to our terrific line-up of 18 literary agents and 3 editors, we can confirm our two keynote speakers, PEN/Faulkner Fiction Prize recipient Benjamin Alire Saenz and #1 New York Times bestselling author, aka "The Bloggess," Jenny Lawson. The conference will also feature the following authors and experts who will be joining us as panelists and/or presenters: Stephanie Barko, Clara Bensen, Scott Blackwood, Chris Brown, Elizabeth Crook, Mo Daviau, Jennifer duBois, Jill Alexander Essbaum, Saundra Goldman, Stephen Harrigan, Donna Johnson, Jeramey Kraatz, Kirk Lynn, Elizabeth McCracken, Karen Olsson, Mark Pryor, Chaitali Sen, Mary Helen Specht, Natalia Sylvester, Manning Wolfe, and many more.

Check back often for updates, or get information through our e-newsletter, Footnotes. Click the "Newsletter" tab at the top of the page to subscribe.

IMPORTANT: At this time, there are no more one-on-one consultation slots available for purchase. If you're thinking about registering for the conference, please take this into consideration and feel free to call us if you have any questions (512) 499-8914. (We may open up slots ahead of the conference, if we find there are extras available, but there is no guarantee this will be the case.)

Please also note that the room block at the conference hotel, Hyatt Regency Austin, is filling up quickly and will likely sell out soon. If you'd like to stay at the Hyatt, book your reservation without delay. The group rate is only good for reservations booked before May 26.

"Time and again, when asked to capture in a few words this conference's varied and vibrant slate of offerings, to sum the whole thing up neatly and succinctly, I find myself coming back to three simple words: Craft. Business. Community."

-- Becka Oliver, Executive Director, Writers' League of Texas

Now in its 23rd year, the Writers' League of Texas Agents & Editors Conference is one of the nation's premier conferences for writers, an invaluable opportunity for attendees to discover new tools to strengthen their writing (craft), gain insight and perspective on the ever-changing publishing landscape while connecting with some of the industry's top players (business), and meet and network with fellow writers (community).

The Writers' League of Texas Agents & Editors Conference is for writers at every stage of their career. Beginners can learn about the sometimes mystifying publishing industry and prepare themselves for the journey ahead. Those with completed manuscripts can pitch to industry professionals and gain knowledge about self-promotion and marketing. Published writers can deepen their understanding of market trends and network with other rising stars in the world of writing.

What's more, the weekend's worth of programming -- complete with panels, presentations, cocktail receptions, meals, and more -- takes place just steps away from the shore of beautiful Lady Bird Lake in downtown Austin, Texas -- a city like no other.

Where else can a writer network with industry professionals, learn about publishing tips and trends, and improve one's craft, all within walking distance of a world-class arts and music district and the largest urban bat colony in North America (there are about 1.5 million bats during peak season)?

And did we mention the food (BBQ, breakfast tacos, migas -- Oh my!)? The live music? The beautiful lake?

Not only can the Writers' League of Texas Agents & Editors Conference boast more than 20 years' worth of success stories, it also has the advantage of being set in one of the most beautiful, artistic, and fun-loving locations in the world. If you haven't been to Austin yet, this is the perfect excuse for a long overdue visit.
