YA A to Z Track: Frequently Asked Questions
Does the YA A to Z track have it's own separate faculty?
Yes! We have invited a handful of agents who are exclusively looking to represent YA authors, and they will be participating in the conference as part of the YA A to Z track ONLY. We have also invited over a dozen YA authors to participate as faculty exclusively in the YA A to Z track. That said, we have also invited a handful of "crossover" agents who represent both YA fiction and general adult fiction. These members of the faculty will participate in panels and lectures across the board, both part of the general conference AND the YA A to Z track.
Where can I see a list of the YA A to Z track faculty?
Click here to see the ever-growing list. We will post the names of participating YA agents and authors as they confirm, so check back often!
If I register for a YA A to Z badge without registeing for the general conference, will I still be allowed to meet individually with an agent?
Yes. If you register before January 1, 2012, your YA A to Z registration will include one complementary 10-minute consultation with a YA agent of your choice. The list of agents you'll have to pick from will include both YA-exclusive agents and "crossover" agents who represent both YA and general adult fiction. If you register after January 1, 2012, this consultation will no longer be included in your registration price, but you will have the option to purchase one for $50.
If I register for a general conference ticket and choose to add on the YA A to Z track for an additional $30, will I get to meet with an adult agent or a YA agent?
That is up to you! If you register before January 1, 2012, your registration will include one complementary 10-minute agent consultation with an agent of your choice. ALL participating agents (whether YA, crossover, or adult-only) will be available to choose from. If you register after January 1, 2012, this consultation will no longer be included in your registration price, but you will have the option to purchase one for $50. Again, ALL particpating agents will be available to choose from. That said, agent choices are first-come, first-served, so it is in your benefit to register early to ensure that you can meet with your top-choice agent.
If I register for a YA A to Z badge without registeing for the general conference, what optional add-ons will be available to me?
You will have the option to purchase a keynote luncheon ticket ($35), which is a general conference-wide event. Also, if you register after January 1, 2012, you will have the option to purchase a 10-minute consultation with a YA agent ($50). Finally, you will have the option to purchase a round-table "Ask the Author" breakfast ticket ($25), in which you'll be able to eat breakfast at a table of 8-10 people including one or more YA authors. Click here for more details about the round-table "Ask the Author" breakfast on Saturday morning.
You will NOT be able to purchase the following add-ons: editor consultations; general conference sessions, general conference cocktail party; pre-conference workshops. These add-ons are available only to those who have purchased a general conference ticket.
Where can I see a program of the panels, workshops, & lectures available in the YA A to Z track?
A preliminary program is forthcoming. In the meantime, check out our 2011 YA A to Z program schedule on Scribd.com for a rough idea of the types of panels and breakout sessions you can expect this year.
