American Letters & Commentary - The University of Texas at San Antonio's annual literary magazine features a substantial and diverse selection of fiction, poetry, essays, translation, and critical opinion. AL&C is an independent 501(c)3 housed at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
American Literary Review - A biannual journal that has been published since 1990 through the Creative Writing Program of the Department of English at the University of North Texas. Publishes poetry, fiction, and nonfiction by writers at all stages in their careers.
American Short Fiction - Nationally-circulated literary magazine in Austin, Texas. Publishes short fiction, novel excerpts, and novellas.
Bat City Review - Annual literary magazine run by creative-writing graduate students from the University of Texas at Austin. Publishes fiction, poetry, and non-fiction.
Borderlands: Texas Poetry Review - Based in Austin, Texas. Publishes poetry along with photographs, reviews and essays.
The Dirty Goat - Annual bilingual magazine featuring material from countless areas around the globe. Each issue contains poetry, prose, drama, interviews and visual art in an 8" X 10" format. Published through Host Publications in Austin.
Iron Horse Literary Review - Founded by Texas Tech University and published six times a year. Publishes fiction, poetry, nonfiction, and photography every August, October, December, February, April, and June. Their issues feature a mix of established writers, relatively unknown regional writers, and up-and coming writers in all genres.
Front Porch Journal - Online literary journal of Texas State University’s MFA program. Publishes poetry, fiction, nonfiction, reviews, and interviews. They also feature a video and audio archive, which showcases celebrated authors reading and discussing their work.
Gulf Coast - Student-run, nationally-distributed journal housed within the University of Houston's English Department. The print journal comes out each April and October and also encourages fine art submissions as well as fiction, essays, poetry, interviews and reviews.
NANO Fiction - NANO Fiction is a bi-annual publication with issues appearing in the spring and fall. They publish flash fiction, prose poems, and micro essays of 300 words or fewer.
