Native Texan Tony Burnett studied music composition at University of North Texas where he was a member of the Honors Program. In 1976 he moved to Austin, Texas, to pursue his creative endeavors. As a musician, he performed in several local bands, enjoyed a short stint as a booking agent and had a solo career as a singer songwriter. While raising five children in a blended family with his trophy wife, Robin, he owned two successful businesses: an auto repair shop and a construction company specializing in eco-friendly design and restoration. He took an early retirement in 2006. Using skills he learned in construction, he built an eco-friendly home in Davilla, Texas, where he farms a small acreage using sustainable methods.
Burnett is an award-winning poet and songwriter who began writing creatively as soon as he was able to pick up a pen and form words. His short fiction and poetry have been widely published in national literary journals. In 2010 he joined the Writers' League of Texas to improve his writing skills. He has served on the Board of Directors since 2013.
