Volunteer Opportunities

We frequently seek volunteers for Writers' League of Texas events, including Third Thursday, classes, Texas Book Festival, the San Antonio Book Festival, our annual Agents' and Editors Conference.

Please note that opportunities are open only to current members of the Writers' League of Texas. Keep an eye on this page for updates on upcoming opportunities.

UPCOMING:

San Antonio Book Festival // Saturday, April 8, 2017: The Writers' League of Texas will be an exhibitor at this year's San Antonio Book Festival in San Antonio, TX. We're looking for volunteers to work at the WLT's exhibitor booth (2-hour shifts are available, beginning with booth set-up at 8:30am and ending at 5:30pm).

Duties may include: Greeting the public and talking about the services offered by the WLT (talking points will be provided), offering assistance to the WLT members who are signing their books at the booth, distributing materials, and helping with set-up (the first shift of the day) and tear-down (the last shift of the day). Mostly, it's a great event and a terrific opportunity to spend time with WLT staff and fellow members. (And, when the weather cooperates, it's a nice way to pass the time outside in San Antonio.)

Volunteer spots are limited for this event. If you're interested in volunteering (or if you have any questions about anything detailed here), reach out to us at member@writersleague.org or call us at 512-499-8914.

2017 Agents & Editors Conference // Friday, June 30 - Sunday, July 2, 2017: The Writers' League of Texas will hosts its 24th Annual Agents & Editors Conference in Austin, TX, this summer. We're looking for volunteers to work throughout the event weekend (each volunteer will be assigned two 4-hour shifts). The event begins on Friday at 11am and ends on Sunday at 2pm.

Duties may include: Greeting and directing attendees to venue rooms, helping at the registration table, working the door at conference events, assisting at breakout sessions, assisting at keynote signing tables, answering questions at the WLT information table, assisting staff with on-site tasks, and more.

SPECIAL NOTES ABOUT VOLUNTEERING AT THE A&E CONFERENCE:

Volunteers must be available for the entire weekend (from start of event to finish) in order to be eligible.

Volunteers will need to be current members of the WLT through the dates of the conference.

Volunteers will have access to conference programming when they are not working (including the evening receptions). They will also be able to purchase a ticket to the Keynote Luncheon, as space allows.

Volunteers are not eligible for one-on-one consultations with agents and editors (those are for conference registrants only).

Volunteers will be asked to help out in the WLT office (4 hours at the most) ahead of the conference as we prep materials and will be required (if volunteering at the event for the first time) to attend an orientation at the conference venue the week before.

Volunteers will be responsible for any personal expenses incurred at the event (including parking at the conference venue).

Volunteer spots are limited for this event. If you're interested in volunteering (or if you have any questions about anything detailed here), reach out to us at member@writersleague.org or call us at 512-499-8914.

Thank you!
