Learn DIY book promotion.

PR by the Book has developed a 5-step success path that authors should take, to get from beginning to end with their book journey. We'd like to take you along as we fly you over the path and give you a bird's eye view of highlights. We start with Preparation, where we'll discuss important factors for an author to consider early on in the writing process. Then, we fly over Platform, where we'll give you a glimpse into creating an epic platform for your writing career and a few social media tips. Next, we fly over Product, where we'll see the importance of high quality work and why it pays off. Next, we go to Plan Land, where we'll cover important aspects of planning a publicity strategy, getting adequate media training and building your tribe. Last, but certainly not least, we reach Promotion(ville), where we see the beauty of amazing press material and how to build contacts with media outlets. We look forward to boarding you onto this flight!

Everyone who participates in this webinar will be entered into a drawing for a FREE 3-month pass into the membership community.

Marika Flatt was hired as a “baby book publicist” in 1997 upon graduating cum laude from Texas A&M University with a degree in Communications. After taking over the management of that boutique literary firm in just a few short years, she & her husband, Doug, launched PR by the Book in 2002, capitalizing on her love of media & books. Marika is a past-president of Women Communicators of Austin, serves as an Expert for Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA), is listed on Twitter’s Women in Publishing (#womeninpublishing) and has served on the selection committee for the Texas Book Festival. Marika also serves on the advisory board for the San Diego Writers Festival. She has been a regular speaker in the book industry since the late ’90s for organizations such as: Digital Book World, IBPA’s Publishing University, Book Expo America, and Writers League of Texas, among others. In her spare time, Marika has been a travel writer for nearly two decades and serves as the Travel Editor for Texas Lifestyle Magazine. Marika can be heard on the statewide NPR show “Texas Standard”, giving her Weekend Trip Tips, and is a regular travel contributor on several TV stations around Texas.
