Learn an approach to mystery writing that focuses on characters and conflict rather than figuring out your plot in advance.

Bestselling author Sherry Thomas shares her secrets for building a well-paced, well-structured mystery organically, by drawing on what a writer already knows about storytelling and characters-in-conflict. There's often an expectation that mysteries, because of their twists and turns, require a detailed outline, but this class will offer strategies for creating and finding conflicts as you go.

TAKE THIS CLASS IF

  • You're writing mystery novels.
  • You're writing in any genre and want tips for creating plot as you go (rather than outlining).
  • You want tips for building plot out of character.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Sherry Thomas is the author of nineteen novels across multiple genres, including the acclaimed Lady Sherlock mystery series, a YA fantasy trilogy that began with The Burning Sky, and more than a dozen romance novels, which have twice won her the Romance Writers of America's prestigious RITA(R) Award. Born in China, she learned English as a second language.
