Are you interested in writing a picture book but not sure where to begin?

Want to learn from one of the most respected children's authors in the country?

Are children's books child's play? Not quite. There's a lot more to writing a picture book than meets the eye. The first part of this workshop will dispel some of the myths and open up some of the challenges intrinsic to the form. The second half will be guided practice. Everyone will leave knowing much, much more about how and why to write for the youngest and most magical audience!

In this class, participants will learn current industry standards for picture books, how to keep a picture book child-centered and make it speak to a young audience, and how to get the attention of a tough industry.

TAKE THIS CLASS IF

  • You're interested in writing picture books for any reading level.
  • You want to understand the structures of the form.
  • You're looking for concrete exercises for writing child-centered stories.
