Writers’ League of Texas author panel discussion

This month the Writers League of Texas will host it's regular Third Thursday panel discussion on TUESDAY, December 18, from 7 to 8 pm.  

Maura Nevel Thomas – author of Personal Productivity Secrets: Do what you never thought possible
with your time and attention... and regain control of your life (published 2012 by Wiley). Maura
earned her bachelor’s degree in economics and later a master’s of business administration degree
from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Maura is a speaker and trainer on productivity
and attention with her company, Personal Productivity Secrets is a nonfiction book and is her first book.

Anna Manning – author of The Leroy Tree: A Memoir (published 2011 by Phyrstbook Publishing).
Anna earned her accounting degree at Mississippi State University along with her master’s of
business administration and a master's of science degree in management from the University of
Texas at Dallas. She is a former tax accountant and CPA. She is now a business and life coach and,
additionally, a relationship coach with Relationship Coaching Institute. The Leroy Tree is a narrative
non-fiction book and Anna’s third book.

Fred Afflerbach – author of Roll On: A Trucker’s Life on the Road (published 2012 by Academy
Chicago Publishers). Fred earned his journalism and English degrees from Texas State University and
went on to have careers as a newspaper reporter across Central Texas and a truck driver across
America. Roll On is a fiction book. This is Fred’s first book.

Steve Harper – author of The Ripple Effect: Maximizing the Power of Relationships for Life &
Business (published in 2009 by SWOT Publishing). Steve attended the University of New Mexico. He
has owned office technology and software companies and now works as a business strategist. The
Ripple Effect is a non-fiction book. This is Steve’s first book.

Authors will be discussing:
• How did you get the idea for your book?
• What was your strategy for writing your book? (i.e. detailed outlines, working closely
with an editor, feedback from a writing club, feedback from your therapist,
something else)
• How did you approach the writing process and make time to write?
• How did you get your book published? Did you use an agent? Did you use your own
• Was your mom or your best friend impressed when you published this book?
• What did you learn along the way?

This author panel discussion is an event put on by the Writers’ League of Texas and is FREE and
open to the public.
