AUSTIN INTERNATIONAL POETRY FESTIVAL (AIPF), from academic poets in Anchorage to folk poets in Zambia, AIPF draws poets from every continent for its April festivities, and is the largest non-juried poetry festival in the world. Live poetry for three days, make friends with a poet in Sri Lanka and submit your poetry to the AIPF anthology, di-verse-city, for a chance to win the Christina Sergeyevna Award.

AUTHORS GUILD -- Membership organization for published writers offers a contract-review service, bulletin, and legal advice.

GEMINI INK (San Antonio) -- a regional organization that nurtures writers and readers and builds community through literature and the related arts. Gemini's programs include four components: University Without Walls, Writers in Communities, Dramatic Reader's Theater, and The Autograph Series, free readings by internationally respected authors produced each spring and fall.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S WRITING GUILD -- a network for the empowerment of women through writing.

IRVING WRITERS CONNECTION (Irving) meets for a critique session the second Monday of every month, at 7 PM at Barnes & Noble, 3634 Irving Mall

MYSTERY WRITERS OF AMERICA (NATIONAL GROUP),

MYSTERY WRITERS OF AMERICA/ SOUTHWEST REGION meets the third Saturday of most months, with the exception of July, August and December at noon at the Doubletree Guest Suites Hotel, 5353 Westheimer, in the Galleria area of Houston. The meeting includes a luncheon, followed by a speaker from law enforcement, forensics, editing, publishing, or a successful author.. For information on the current speaker and to make reservations, call 713.797.8464. MWA/SW members also meet monthly in Dallas and New Orleans.

NATIONAL LEAGUE OF AMERICAN PEN WOMEN -- made up of women who have demonstrated creative talents in art, letters, and music composition. There are Pen Women branches throughout the United States. In some states, there are state associations of affiliated branches.
