Magazine Open Deadline FICTION WEEKLY
Fiction Weekly is designed and dedicated to offering readers the best in
new fiction 52 times a year. Our contributors come from a wide variety of
backgrounds and include both established and previously unpublished authors.
Fiction Weekly offers writers the opportunity to have their work showcased
on the site for one week and featured on the homepage for three months. Unlike
the majority of journals, Fiction Weekly accepts submissions via email, reads

POETRY SOCIETY MONTHLY CONTESTS APS sponsors two regular monthly contests
in October through April, in the categories of General and Light Verse. In each
of the two contests, APS awards $5 for the critic's first place choice and $3

Monthly scratch scratch is a monthly writing contest that seeks
new short fiction to be selected by rotating guest judges -- authors, agents,
editors and publishers. Small fee to enter, cash prizes and publication every

February 28, 2010 HOUSTON WRITERS GUILD WRITING CONTEST First prize
is $1000. No electronic submissions. Entries accepted in English from anywhere
in the world. Entries must be sent in duplicate, no more than 15 pages, not including
the title page. Your name must not appear on the entry. More than one entry is
permitted. Each entry fee is $20. Winners will be announced at the Spring Conference

Deadline: March 1, 2010 JAMES
JONES FELLOWSHIP CONTEST The 18th Annual James Jones First Novel Fellowship
will be awarded to an American author of a first novel-in-progress, in 2010, by
the James Jones Literary Society. Novellas and collections of closely linked short
stories may also be considered for the competition. Top award is $10,000, and
two $750 runner-up awards will also be given. The award is intended to honor the
spirit of unblinking honesty, determination, and insight into modern culture exemplified
by the late James Jones, author of From Here to Eternity. For more information,

Deadline: March 31, 2010 GLIMMER TRAIN
FICTION OPEN Open to all writers and all themes. Glimmer Train does
not publish stories for children or works longer than 20,000 words. Word count
range is 2,000 to 20,000 words. Unpublished novel excerpts are considered if they
feel like complete stories. Acceptance of a story for publication includes purchase
of first-publication rights. Reading fee: $20 per story. Prizes: 1st place wins
$2000, publication in Glimmer Train Stories, and 20 copies of that issue. 2nd

Deadline: May 15, 2010 LORIAN HEMINGWAY SHORT STORY
COMPETITION Stories in all fiction genre welcome; maximum length is 3,000
words. Prizes include $1,000, 1st prize; $500 2nd prize, and $500 3rd prize. As

1, 2010 SCARE THE DICKENS OUT OF US GHOST STORY CONTEST This literary
contest is a fundraiser for the Friends of Dr. Eugene Clark Library in Lockhart,
Texas. Any genre is welcome, and prizes include 1st place, $1000; 2nd place, $500,
and 3rd place, $250 for a new, original ghost story up to 5000 words. Entry
fee is $20.00. The contest is privately funded, all entry fees go to the Friends

OUT OF US GHOST STORY CONTEST A fundraiser for the Friends of Dr. Eugene
Clark Library in Lockhart, Texas, this contest is open to ages 12 - 18. First
prize is $250. Entry fee is $5. Entries accepted from July 1 to October 1, 2010.
